Former MDP Chairman (Reeko) Moosa Manik has said he will not remain silent if individuals arrested in the nationwide anti-drug operation are released due to political influence.
In a post shared on X, Reeko Moosa welcomed the government’s efforts to crack down on drugs but cautioned that the public would not tolerate the release of suspects through political pressure or intimidation of the judiciary.
Police on Thursday carried out a major operation targeting drug dealers, conducting simultaneous raids at 100 locations across the country. The operation, which began at 5:30 a.m., led to the arrest of 97 individuals and the seizure of various drugs and trafficking paraphernalia.
Authorities say this is the most extensive anti-drug operation conducted in recent years.
