Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Ms Nahula said that the Direct Cargo Ferry Service will bring an advantage for the economic growth of the Maldives.

Speaking at the e-launching ceremony of the Cargo Ferry Service between India and the Maldives, Ms Nahula said that this a start of an important work under the decentralization policy of the government and more importantly this will enhance the economic growth of the Maldives.

In her remarks, Minister Nahula highlighted that this opportunity will expand the export markets for local goods, and this will also support local goods to be exported to the European market through India.

Speaking at the e-launching ceremony, India’s Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Shipping Mansukh Mandaviya said that this is another milestone in the comprehensive bilateral relations between India and Maldives. This direct cargo service will further cement the close ties between India and Maldives by enhancing people-to-people contact and boosting bilateral trade.

The cargo ferry will reach the Kulhudhuffushi port in North Maldives on 26th September and then to Male’ port on 28th September.
