The Maldives has recorded over 700,000 tourist arrivals this year.
As per statistics, on this Friday, Maldives has recorded 705,024 tourist arrivals in Maldives since the beginning of the year. The records also showed 92,103 tourists arrived in January, 96,882 tourists arrived in February, and 109,585 tourists arrived in March. While in April, 91,200 tourists arrived, in May, 64,613 tourists arrived, in June, 56,166 tourists arrived, and in July, 101,818 tourists arrived in the Maldives.
The records also showed 92,657 tourist arrivals in August, so far.
As per the Tourism Ministry, in 2021, the top source market for tourist arrival as of August includes Russia at the top, followed by India, Germany, the U.S.A, and Ukraine. Saudi Arabia, Spain, Kazakhstan, UK, and France are also included in the top 10 source market for tourist arrival.
The records also show that currently, a total of 1,050 tourist facilities are in operation. This includes 163 Resorts/ Marinas, 716 guesthouses, 160 Safari vessels, and 11 hotels.
Since the border reopening, the Maldives has seen an increase in tourist arrivals from day to day. The Maldives aims to be a safe haven to the tourists amidst the pandemic with precautionary measures taken in every tourist establishment and an initiative in progress to vaccinate tourism industry workers.
