Wizz Air Abu Dhabi today has launched air travel services between Abu Dhabi and the Maldives.

Wizz Air Abu Dhabi is an Emirati scheduled low-cost airline based in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and is jointly owned by the state and Wizz Air holdings.

"With the extensive global connections UAE provides, the new route from Abu Dhabi will strengthen connectivity between the Maldives and the rest of the world. And with this enhanced connectivity between UAE and Maldives, I welcome Emiratis and residents to travel to the Maldives and experience the Maldivian hospitality,” said Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, speaking at the welcoming event held at Velana International Airport (VIA).

“More people can take advantage of this convenient link thanks to the direct flights between Abu Dhabi and the Maldives. I wish Wizz Air every success with its new service to the Maldives.”

Wizz Air will be operating three weekly flights to the Maldives on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays on the 239-seater Airbus A321Neo. Wizz Air is also planning to increase flight frequency to six weekly flights by November and to daily flights by December.
