State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) Managing Director Ahmed Shareef has said that he does not discriminate against any political party in providing services.
Shareef made the statement while speaking at the MoU signing ceremony with the Kaafu and Vaavu atoll and island councils for the repair and maintenance of street lights.
Speaking at the ceremony, Shareef said he wanted to give assurance to the city councils and atoll councils that STELCO would not put any political color in the provision of services.
"We will not give a certain level of service to certain people because they belong to a certain political party,” Shareef explained.
Speaking on the topic of discrimination, Shareef expressed concern over the city council's actions after a cooling pipe broke.
"No intention to target the city council. We will provide services to all citizens equally, and there will be no discrimination. We do not want to fight politically on the issue. We want to provide services to the people. Stelco will provide services to everyone equally," Shareef said.
He further said that he did not want to blame anyone for the pipe leak. The work on fixing the pipe is being carried out and the work will be completed tomorrow, he added.
