Home Minister Imran Abdullah has claimed that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's remarks on the boundary dispute with Mauritius were accurate.

Minister Imran’s comments came after President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih's affirmation on that the government had not made any choices on the border that would compromise the country’s sovereignty.

Home Minister and Adalat Party leader Imran Abdullah declared on Twitter that he can testify that President Solih was correct despite disapproval from many. According to the Minister, he is fully aware of the border dispute involving Mauritius and Maldives.

Speaking at an official ceremony to commemorate the day the Maldives embraced Islam yesterday, President Solih said the government has never taken any decision that could compromise the sovereignty and independence of the Maldives, and reaffirmed that his administration is committed to ensuring the independence and sovereignty of the country. He assured that the administration is acting in the best interests of the country.

The President also spoke about efforts by some to mislead the public about the ongoing dispute concerning the delimitation of the maritime border between the Maldives and Mauritius.

"It is very sad to see the spread of false rumors for personal gain or to achieve political goals. It is even more regrettable to try to create division and fear among the people by spreading such rumors," he said.
