Member of Parliament for the Dhaandhoo constituency, Yaugoob Abdulla has stated the projected state budget for next year will free the people from their island confinement.

Speaking about the budget to state media, Yaugoob said that the budget proposed by the government to the parliament is a hopeful budget and that it was planned to prioritize the greatest needs of the people.

Yaugoob said that the budget will free the people of Maldives from their island confinement, pointing out that RTL’s ferry system is successfully working in Bodu Thiladhunmathi, and that Huvadhoo, Addu and Fuvahmulah will be connected too with RTL’s ferry system.

“So the whole Maldives will be freed from island confinement, by God’s will, when this budget is implemented. This is why I am saying it’s a hopeful budget for the people. Maldivians who do not travel won’t know how great a feeling it is when you go out of the island in the morning and return late afternoon. How great an economic boon it is. Even recently a southern man who went to the north and experienced this service called me and told me it’s just now that a government has done something satisfying and unimaginably great for us,” Yaugoob said.

Yesterday, proposing the budget to the parliament, Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer stated that connecting the islands and people with a transportation system is an important component of ‘Jazeera’ development. And that Raajje Transport Link is making this vision true and RTL is bringing a revolution to the transportation system.

“Bodu Thiladhunmathi is in that ease. Easily connecting all the islands with a fast ferry system is of crucial importance. Work has started for next year’s project of connecting together the whole of Huvadhoo with RTL’s vessels. In addition to that, RTL will cross the equator and connect Fuvahmulah, Addu, and Huvadhoo together. And the whole of Maldives will be interconnected in a large transportation network,” Ameer said.
