There is a need to stop wasting money in partnering with foreign hospitals, says, Parliament Member for the Kaashidhoo constituency, Abdullah Jabir.

During the questioning session for Health Minister Ahmed Naseem in Parliament today, Jabir stated that Aasandha is still running in a very wasteful manner. Jabir then asked the Minister how the Health Ministry was working to stop wasting Aasandha funds so that ADK Nasheed and the heads of a few hospitals would stop benefiting from it.

Jabir highlighted that it is important to run Aasandha in a way other than the current model in order to prevent foreign hospitals from benefiting from a large amount of money from the fund.

In response to a question, Minister Naseem said the issue of wasting funds from Aasandha has been an ongoing issue and that he will try to resolve the complaints submitted to the Ministry. According to the Minister MVR, 1.6 billion has been spent on Aasandha this year as well.

He also added that the CEO of Aasandha has now been changed and therefore he believes that the new CEO will continue to work to resolve such issues requested by the Ministry.
