The spokesperson of the President's Office, Mohamed Miuvaan, has stated that when the amendment to the tax bill proposed by the government gets implemented, the people will benefit directly from it.

Speaking on a TV program, Miuvaan said that the budget projected for next year includes many things for the development and progress of the people. He added that the budget would allow current projects to be completed and pave the way for new ones.

Further speaking on the topic, Miuvaan highlighted that tax revenue is an important element of the proposed budget.

"Taxes are being increased to run the programs the government has planned for the people. Tax money is not being taken to stop providing services. The budget has a lot of things planned for the people next year," Miuvan said.

Miuvan said the increased tax would directly benefit the people. From which salaries can be raised, and free degree programs can be continued without a halt, said Miuvan.

"Social welfare programs will progress without faltering," said Miuvaan.

Miuvaan stated that the proposed raise for the taxes is relatively low, and what the people will have to pay extra is relatively low. He also added that speaking about raising taxes is never an easy topic and that talks like this happened even when MDP introduced the tax system.
