The President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has decided to meet with relevant authorities following the major fire incident last night.

The fire broke out at the M. Nirufehige, which has a vehicle repair garage on the ground floor and a foreign labor quarter above it. The fire has killed 10 people so far.

The President Solih, Defense Minister Maria Ahmed Didi and Home Minister Imran Abdullah have visited the area to inspect the situation.

The President said the fire incident that killed several people last night was a tragic incident and he would hold necessary discussions with the relevant authorities.

President Saleh said one of the biggest problems facing the Male' area is congestion and the presence of garages and warehouses in the residential area. The government's plan is to relocate such garages and workshops from the Male' residential area, he said.

The President said that the projects being implemented in Thilafushi and Gulheefalhu will include the relocation of all warehouses and garages to these areas.

The President said he would take all necessary measures as soon as possible to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
