President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met with relevant authorities following the major fire incident last night.
The meeting was attended by the senior management of relevant authorities.
During the meeting, the President instructed the authorities to continue to provide information on the incident as transparently as possible, to investigate the cause of the incident as soon as possible, to identify the victims, to conduct the funeral, and to provide assistance to the victims. In addition, the President asked the authorities to strengthen the inspection of residences of migrants and prepare a plan to relocate workshops and garages in the city.
The President also assured that the government will take necessary measures to prevent such incidents from happening again.
The fire broke out at the M. Nirufehige, which has a vehicle repair garage on the ground floor and a foreign labor quarter above it. Several people lost their lives in the tragic incident. Prior to the meeting with relevant authorities, the President visited the area where the incident occurred.
