Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) leader Ahmed Siyam Mohamed has called for industrial workplaces to be placed away from where civilians live.
Siyam said this while expressing his condolences for the victims of last night's fire disaster in a vehicle garage in Male' that resulted in ten deaths.
"I call for the government to move industrial workplaces away from civilian living areas as soon as possible," Siyam said.
Previously the mayor of Male' City, Dr. Mohamed Muizz had stated that work will commence soon to move garages and warehouses in Male' to the industrial village. But this work was halted by the government after saying a special area in Thilafushi would be used for that.
The work to move warehouses from Male' to Thilafushi was started three years ago by the government after facing criticism regarding the fire disaster at the chemical warehouse on Abadhah Hiyaa street in Henveiru.
