Finance Ministry has stated that up til last month, the state has received MVR 22.2 billion in revenue and that it is a 5.8 billion increase compared to the revenue from the same time last year.
The largest source of state revenue is the MVR 16.04 billion tax revenue. Tax revenue, too, has increased by 36.7% compared to last year.
The rest of the state revenue has been MVR 6.09 billion. The sources of this include things like airport development fees, dividends from companies with shares owned by the government, and property income.
While MVR 30.7 billion has been used from the state budget til the end of last month this year, last year at the same time it was MVR 16.4 billion.
Recurrent expenditure is the largest expenditure incurred by the government or expenditure for the administrative operation of the government. According to the Finance Ministry, the government has spent MVR 8.9 billion on salaries so far this year compared to MVR 8.3 billion last year.
