Police stops the cycle rally held against the slavery and arrests some of its participants.

Although police has issued a statement against public gathering, warning about the actions taken, Maldives youth organises a rally against the slavery. Police stopped this cycle rally, and informed the participants that they cannot gather.

Along with several warnings to stop this cycle rally, police warned that they will take actions as well if they continued the cycle rally.

Police made arrests along with towing of vehicles of participants joining the cycle rally after several warnings to stop it. Police also used pepper spray at Majeedhee magu, as the participants tried to break the police lines which were trying to stop the cycle rally.The cycle rally was then turned into a walking rally.

Opposition party PNC’s leader Mr Abdul Raheem Abdulla, along with 2 vice presidents of PPM Mr Ibrahim Sujau and parliament member MR. Ahmed Shiyam, was seen participating in this Cycle rally.

Due to this event, Maldives police service has closed down some areas and started patrolling at different areas in Male’ city. Police have closed down areas near hotel Jen, President's office, Majeedhiyya School, PPM office and green zone area.
