STELCO chairman Ibrahim Didi has stated that not even a single mosque's power would be cut in Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's presidency.

The chairman said this in response to rumours spread by some people that the State Electric Company Ltd (STELCO) has warned the city council that power of Male' City mosques will be cut.

"In Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's presidency, and while I am the chairman, not just Male' mosques, power will not be cut from a single mosque. But if the bill has not been paid, the management will see to that," said Didi.

Didi said that it was sad that some people are spreading rumours that sow hatred in the hearts of the citizens.

"In this Islamic society, no government will cut the power of mosques! But per the established guidelines, the relevant institutions have to pay the bills too," Didi said.

STELCO had previously expressed their concerns regarding unpaid bills from certain institutions too. And they have stated that if bills are not paid, there will be difficulties in providing the people with their services.
