In the four years of Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's presidency, a new record has been set in the tourism industry surpassing any achievement made within a five-year term before.
According to the statistics of the Tourism Ministry, in the past four years, President Solih's government has opened 33 new resorts. That is 4505 new rooms and 9497 new beds.
Tourism Minister Abdulla Mausoom has stated that 25% of the tourist beds are new ones from President Solih's term.
The number of new resorts, rooms, and beds opened to the market in President Solih's government is the greater amount by a large margin compared to previous governments. While 9497 beds have been released to the market so far with this government, in 2008-2012 only 751 were released, in 2012-2013 871, and in 2013-2018 it was 7476 beds.
