Maduvvari MP Adam Shareef has stated that the state budget should be one that is easily and responsibly put into action.

Speaking in the debate on the budget in the Parliament, Shareef said that the budget should be able to reinforce the economic cornerstone of the country. And that it should be a way for the citizens to prosper. But it appears that Maldives is drowning in more debt the way things are, said Shareef.

"A MVR 42.86 billion budget. 32 billion income. From that, 29 billion for the running of the government. For the development of the citizens, it's MVR 13 billion. MMA has stated that inflation will go up by 5%. Because of this, poverty in Maldives will rise and the gap between the rich and poor will widen even more," Adam Shareef said.

Adam Shareef said that it is not safe for the government to print money after failing to secure foreign aid. And that this is the worst thing done by this government.

Shareef stated that the wastefulness of the government is great and that MVR 1.9 billion has been given in the last 4 years as change.

In addition to this, Adam Shareef said that the way subsidies are handled has to change and that when companies handle it, they take advantage of it.
