Spokesperson at the President's Office, Miuvaan Mohamed has stated that if an issue with a person appointed for a position in the government arises, it will be investigated.

Miuvaan stated this in the news conference held today at the President's Office while serious allegations against a recent appointee for the position of deputy minister have started circulating on social media. Private photos that appear to show the person in question participating in an indecent act have been leaked on social media.

When asked about this at the news conference, Miuvaan replied that people are appointed for political positions after their criminal records are checked. And that if they have any record of a criminal offense, they will not be appointed.

"If anything of the sort happens afterwards, then it will be investigated and the appropriate measures will be taken," said Miuvaan.

A while ago, incriminating private pictures of some politicians and a few others got leaked in the now infamous "Alamgiri" scandal. As a result of that, even then the government had taken action against some people in political positions.
