Tourism Minister Abdulla Mausoom has stated that it is highly likely that by the third week of the coming month, the number of tourists set as the goal by the government for this year will be achieved.

The Minister stated today that the number of tourists who have visited the country this November is 7.5% more than the number that visited before COVID in November 2019.

While the goal for this year has been set at 1.6 million tourists, Mausoom said that it is most likely that this goal will be reached in the third week of the coming month.



According to the statistical reports of the Tourism Ministry, this year 1,456,170 tourists have arrived so far. Compared to the same time in 2019, this is 2.8% lower. But compared to last year, this is a 29.8% increase.

This year the greatest number of tourists came in October. That was 153,737 tourists. The biggest sources of tourists are India, Russia, and the United Kingdom.
