The Parliament has passed the state budget for next year along with the supplementary budget.
The Finance Ministry had proposed a MVR 42.6 billion budget projected for 2023 to the Parliament. When the Budget Committee of the Parliament passed it, they added MVR 160 million to it, bringing the total budget to MVR 42.8 billion.
In the voting phase of today's Parliament sitting, 61 members voted to pass the budget with the supplementary budget and 8 voted against it.
While members of the opposition coalition PPM-PNC proposed 13 amendments to the budget, member of the ruling party MDP, Central Maafannu MP Ibrahim Rasheed proposed 3 amendments. However, all of the amendments were denied.
