The Anti-Coruption Commission has stated that there are no external influences affecting any investigation, and that it is not even possible to have such an influence on ACC.

ACC said this in response to allegations made by opposition party PPM that the government interferes with the corruption case against Transport Minister Aishath Nahula that had been presented to ACC.

Regarding this, ACC has stated that the Transport Minister's case has been registered. And that under its guidelines, the investigation will be carried out.

The Commission said that it is an independent institution which will not have any external influences on its activities.

A person who had a political position within the Transport Ministry had filed a case against the Transport Minister and the Assistant Director of the ministry, accusing them of abusing their power to financially benefit themselves via vehicle registration.

Recently Assistant Director Rushoona Rashad was suspended for registering vehicles unlawfully. Also the Minister had sent a letter to the President's Office asking for the dismissal of Deputy Minister Shimaz Ali for illegal activities.
