Deputy Minister of the Transport Ministry and Jumhooree Party council member Saudulla Ahmed has questioned former President and current Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed's talks on taking a vote to change the governance system of the country while at the same time alleging that Maldives is bankrupt.

Saud's response came at a time when Nasheed has been repeatedly talking about the vote to change the system and also the bankruptcy of the nation. Nasheed has been saying that the reserve has gotten very low and there is not enough money to buy foods, while at the same time calling for a vote to change the governance system.

"When (former) President Nasheed talks about a vote to change the system, isn't it you (Nasheed) who is saying Maldives is going bankrupt, that there is not enough money for 2 days?" Saud said criticizing Nasheed's words.

Saud has posed the question to Nasheed that if there is no money as Nasheed alleges, then can the financial issues be solved by spending about MVR 400 million on a vote to change the system.

Nasheed is currently working to get the Presidency, creating a separate faction within MDP. As such, he is working to get the MDP ticket for the coming elections. However, according to sources, he has not been getting strong support for this.
