Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Aishath Nahula has stated that preparations are being made to legalize providing various services using drones.
The Minister said this in her speech given at the ceremony of the International Civil Aviation Day.
In her speech Nahula stated that work is being done to provide opportunities for more activities in the field of civil aviation. As such, before the end of the year, a system for handing out permits for drone operation will be completed. And by next year, various services provided by drones will be legalized in the country.
December 7 of each year is the internationally celebrated International Civil Aviation Day. This day was first celebrated in 1994 during the activities of the 50th anniversary of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). In 1996 under ICAO's leadership, the UN General Assembly decided that December 7 will be the International Civil Aviation Day under UN's system.
