Former Foreign Minister and current Women’s Wing Leader of Maldives National Party (MNP), Dunya Maumoon has said that she has not touched even a single coin of the people.

Dunya said this because she was summoned before the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in relation to its investigation into the MMPRC case.

Dunya alleged that she was being subjected to political accusations, lies and harassment. She said that she had not stolen a single rufiyaa from the government and the people. The daughter of President Maumoon, who ruled Maldives for 30 years, Dunya said she had been summoned before the ACC and would always advocate for justice and truth.

According to the official notice sent to Dunya, state funds were embezzled through state-owned companies using MMPRC from February 2014 to February 2015. And during that time, money received from renting out islands and lagoons for tourism were also stolen. It is alleged that Dunya received a share of the stolen money.

Dunya is also on the list prepared by the Asset Recovery Commission which has the names of people who were allegedly involved in the MMPRC scandal. According to the list, Dunya received MVR 200,000 or $13,000 through MMPRC. However, Dunya denies this.
