The main opposition alliance, Progressive Coalition has decided to meet the Governor of Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) saying that with the economic state becoming worse, there is fear of citizens starving.

The Progressive Congress Coalition stated that the state reserve is running too low to buy staple foods and there is fear of it running out and the people starving.

The opposition said they would meet MMA Governor Ali Hashim today. According to MMA, the meeting will take place at 11:00 a.m.

While the opposition alleges that Maldives' economic state is worsening, government and international financial institutions say the economy is growing. Financial institutions say the economy is expected to grow by 12 percent this year. In addition, experts say there is no threat of bankruptcy.
