Feydhoo MP Mohamed Nihad has stated that yesterday's MDP Upper North province's election made the result of the presidential election clear.

The one who got elected as MDP president of the Upper North province was the Planning Ministry's State Minister Akram Kamaludeen, who belongs to President Solih's faction within the party. Akram won the election by a huge margin.

Akram won the polls which were held in 40 islands in the Upper North province, in HA., HDh. and Sh. atolls, with 2988 votes. His opponent Ahmed Hashim got only 290 votes while Ahmed Adil got 850 votes.

MP Nihad said that the results of the presidential election were made clear by yesterday's election's results. He said that President Solih will be elected as President, and that an MDP government is needed.

The opportunity to nominate candidates for the MDP presidential primary has been opened today. Nihad said that there is no difference between the way things are going now and the way MDP is acting. He said those who want to contest the election should contest without making excuses.

Both the leader of the party President Solih and the party president Mohamed Nasheed have announced their candidacies in the primary. The MDP presidential primary is scheduled to be held on January 28.
