The Criminal Court has scheduled to pass judgment on former President Abdulla Yameen regarding the charges raised against him in the V. Aarah lease case on next Sunday.

In the V. Aarah case, charges were raised against Yameen and former MP Yoosuf Naeem.

Yameen is charged with money laundering and accepting bribes. Former MP Yoosuf Naeem is facing bribery charges.

The hearings in the case concluded on the 30th of last month. The Criminal Court has scheduled a verdict for Sunday.

At the last summary hearing, the prosecution argued that the evidence presented by the defense, in this case, was fabricated and untrue.

The lawyers of the defendants, Abdulla Yameen and Yoosuf Naeem, said the prosecution could not prove that anything was done to lease Aarah to a particular person. The defense lawyers also stated that since Yameen is a politician, his political income should not be detailed and disclosed.
