As per the opposition party, Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), its priority is to free former President Yameen and bring him to the presidency at the 2023 presidential election.

The statement released by PPM on the occasion of the 9th Anniversary of PPM reflected on the beneficial changes brought by the former President Yameen in his administration. Including the achievements brought in for the economy of the country.

PPM also states that the purpose of the coalition between the political parties PPM and PNC is to work closely with the people of the Maldives and ensure that the state addresses their concerns and to make the government more responsible. People's National Congress (PNC), was formed under the leadership of former President Yameen.

PPM assured that the party will continue to promote nurturing the love for the nation to maintain the liberty of the country, along with protecting, nurturing, and fostering to respect the most fundamental pillars of the Maldives', our shared faith, language, and culture.

As per the statement, the party's priority is to free former President Yameen and bring him to the presidency at the 2023 presidential election.

PPM has also stated that the party has postponed its anniversary celebration activities due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
