Police have stated that Abbas was arrested under a court order in connection with a case that is being investigated. A Twitter account in his name had encouraged setting the Indian embassy on fire.

Abbas was arrested today and remanded in custody for five days by the Criminal Court.

In previous statements to some media outlets, Abbas has said that the Twitter account in his name did not belong to him.
