The oil spill has been removed from the coastal areaa near the official jetty of Malé city.
The Coast Guard Oil Response Team and the Malé Area Army have removed the oil from the area at 13:35 pm today, said the Maldives National Defense Force.
MNDF said that around 1,000 liters of oil have been spilled into the area. MNDF also said that the team had cleared 15 barrels of oil from the area.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has now begun investigating the oil spill.
