President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that he is very clear on how to get the people’s support in votes.
He stated this while speaking at his MDP primary campaign rally tonight.
In his speech responding to the members who support President Mohammed Nasheed within the MDP, President Solih said that he has also won various elections in the past. Including the parliamentary elections for five years and the presidential elections for one year.
Hence with the experience, he knows how to get the votes of the people, said President Solih. The President also said that he would win the party's primary and then the presidential election.
Speaking further, President Solih highlighted that MDP has experienced various presidential elections in the past and in 2008 it formed a government with a coalition. However, the coalition collapsed less than two months after coming to power and MDP had to take to the streets again without completing its term, he said.
The President said that on the contrary, he is assuring that he will maintain the coalition and complete his term of office. Therefore, he decided to contest the upcoming presidential election to complete a five-year rule, not to rule for one, two, or three years, he said.
