MDP candidate wins Thakandhoo council by-election, which was held today.

This is a vacant seat in the Thakandhoo council reserved for women.

There were two candidates contesting the election. Out of which, Faheema Mohamed contested as an independent, while MDP candidate Fathimath Shaufa contested against her.

The election was won by MDP candidate Shaufa with 237 votes. Meanwhile, Faheema Mohammed received 203 votes.

A total of 440 votes were counted as valid votes and 8 as invalid votes.

675 people were eligible to vote in the election.
