The people should know about the "deals" that the President Ibrahim Solih is making in his government coalition to win this year's presidential election, the vice-president of the Maldives National Party, MNP, Ahmed Shareef, said yesterday.

Speaking at a party gathering Shareef said within the four years of Ibrahim Solih's Presidency, all we saw was multiple deals done with different parties. He said that the people should know about the deals that the President is making with his coalition parties to win this year's presidential election. Shareef said the people are very concerned about President Salih's combining all powers and making deals.

"The people of the Maldives need to know very clearly the deals you are trying to make. Whether you waived the fine, gave away an island, changed an agreement, relieved a case in court, or gave a loan from banks," Shareef explained.

In addition, he highlighted that forming a coalition is against the Constitution and laws. Further in his speach Shareef also called for an audit of President Salih’s government before he runs for a new term.

Sharif's comments come as the Adhaalath Party and Sun Syam's MDA have recently decided to form a coalition with the MDP to win the presidential election and bring President Salih to power.
