The test flight to GDh. Fares-Maathoda Airport has been scheduled for Monday.

One of the biggest promises President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih made to the people when he took office was to develop an airport at every point in the country at a distance of a 20 minute flight. The development of an airport in GDh. Fares-Maathoda came under this promise. The development project was handed over to MTCC by the government.

The airport is scheduled to officially open on the 15th of this month. According to the official Facebook page of the airport, the test flight will be held on Monday, late afternoon. A plane of the national airline Maldivian will be used for the test.

Under the project, a 1200 metre runway and a terminal building, along with other necessary facilities, have been constructed at the airport.

The project connects the airport to Fares-Maathoda by a causeway. The project, which was scheduled to be completed within 600 days per the agreement, is worth MVR 144.8 million.
