After 22 years, a new power plant has been built and put into operation in Fares-Maathodaa.

Fenaka Corporation has stated that the 22 year old power plant, which was causing pain and suffering to the residents of Fares-Maathodaa with its noise and air pollution, has been switched off.

Fenaka also said that the newly built central power plant has started supplying electricity to the island and the airport.

The old power plant was switched off by the Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, Honourable Mohamed Aslam, and the Managing Director of Fenaka, Ahmed Saeed Mohamed.
