The Government of Maldives and the Government of Ghana have signed two key Agreements that will further deepen the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

Following their meeting in London at the sidelines of the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting in London, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Abdulla Shahid signed the agreements on behalf of the Government of Maldives and the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of the Republic of Ghana, HE Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey signed the agreements on behalf of the Government of Ghana.

The two agreements signed between the Maldives and Ghana includes, an MoU on mutual Exemption of Visa Requirements for their Respective Nationals, and an MoU on Political Consultation.



The conclusion of the agreements is a step towards closer bilateral exchange between Ghana and Maldives through periodic consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries and increased people-to-people contact facilitated through mutual exemption of visa.

The signing ceremony was held at the Marlborough House in London.

Maldives established diplomatic relations with Ghana on 10 August 1989.
