The opportunity has been opened today for those who wish to contest the presidential primary to determine Jumhooree Party's candidate in the upcoming presidential election.
The decision to participate in the presidential election was unanimously decided upon by the party council in the meeting held on the 14th of this month.
The party has stated that the opportunity to submit nominations for the presidential primary will be open until 12:00 pm on the 30th of this month.
The party also stated that candidates for the primary must meet the requirements for a president under the constitution.
While Jumhooree Party has opened the presidential primary, no person other than the party leader Gasim Ibrahim is expected to contest. JP has expressed interest in contesting the elections through a coalition led by JP. However, it is not known who they would make a coalition with.
