MTCC CEO Adam Azim has stated that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will be the first President to develop and open six airports in one presidential term.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Fares-Maathodaa airport, Azim said the current government has developed the airports of Hoarafushi, Maavarulu and Fares-Maathodaa. Azim added that the tarring of the runway of Muli Airport, whose development has almost been completed by MTCC, will start in April.

In addition to the Muli Airport, Azim said that the tarring of the runway at F. Magoodhoo Airport will start in June this year and the tarring of the runway at R. Alifushi Airport will start in August.

Azim said MTCC is working to complete all three airports and open them within this term. With this, Azim said that President Solih will become the first President to develop and open six airports in a single term.

"When these three airports are opened during this term, President Solih will become the first President to develop and open six airports in one term," said MTCC CEO Adam Azim.

Azim further added that the necessary work is being done to enable the landing of flights at night in Kulhudhuffushi. As such, he said the runway will be lit at night after the shore protection work is completed. Azim said that work is underway to make sure this is completed in April.
