Speaker of Parliament and former President Mohamed Nasheed has stated that the month of Ramadan is the month of drawing closer to Allah.
Sending his well wishes to the people of the Maldives on the occasion of the first day of Ramadan of the Hijri year 1444, which began today, Nasheed said that this is a month of remembering and caring for the poor who are in need of food.
Nasheed said this month is the holy month to spend time in good ways and draw closer to Allah.
“This is the month to take your heart and mind to the unblemished standards of the state of purity,” said former President Nasheed.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has also advised all citizens to observe fasting and increase good deeds for the sake of Allah, in their Ramadan announcement.
