The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has stated that the distribution of the dates donated by the Saudi government will begin on Sunday.

The Ministry said that the distribution of dates will continue from Sunday to April 6, 2023, Thursday.

In Male', dates will be distributed from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm on non-official holidays in the lobby area of the Islamic Centre. The Ministry has requested people to bring their national identity cards when they come to receive the dates.

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs said that dates will be distributed to households in other cities and islands of atolls in the order of appearance to receive the dates, after each household in the 1443 AH poverty registry has been given one packet.

"When distributing dates at the rate of one packet per household, after giving the needy their share of the amount received from Saudi Arabia this year, 26 packets are left for each 100 households," stated the Islamic Ministry.

While the Ministry will distribute the dates to the people living in Greater Male' area, the Ministry stated that dates will be distributed in the atolls by island and city councils.

The Saudi government has donated 50 tonnes of dates to Maldives this year.
