The government has decided that the third "Viavathi Raajje" conference will be held in May this year.
The conference is scheduled to be held from May 12 to 14 in HDh. Hanimaadhoo. Preparations for the conference have already begun.
The President's Office stated that the main purpose of the conference is to further strengthen President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s efforts to promote a decentralised governance system and to ensure the fiscal and legal autonomy of the local councils.
The conference also aims to familiarize the councils with the amendments to the law to ensure that they receive the real benefits of the decentralization system.
