Vice President of the Maldives National Party Ahmed Shareef has stated that the people are the ones who suffer when the government and the City Council fight.
Shareef said this referring to Male' City Mayor Dr. Muizzu saying that a government-owned company should be held responsible for the flooding caused by heavy rains in Male' City.
Shareef said all the ill effects from the conflict between the government, government companies and the City Council are being faced by the common people.
“Who will take responsibility for the damage to people's homes and property?” asked Shareef.
Heavy rains have caused flooding in Male' City. Thr Mayor said the flooding happened because storm water pumps were not turned on. The pumps are maintained by the water company.
Heavy rains have caused two to three feet of water in some roads of the city. This is the first time in a long time in which Male' has been flooded like this.
