The Jumhooree Party (JP) has approved the presidential ticket for its leader Gasim Ibrahim.
According to the Party, Gasim Ibrahim was the only nomination received when the party opened to for Primary nomination. Therefore, the party council members unanimously decided to declare Gasim as a presidential candidate to compete in the upcoming Presidential elections of the country.
The decision was announced at the JP council meeting held today, where the council members unanimously agreed that Gasim meets the eligiblity to become a presidential candidate and compete in the upcoming elections, representing JP.
The opportunity to contest in JP primary was opened on 16th last month following the decision of the JP National Assembly to contest in the presidential election separately without a party coalition.
