The Attorney General's Office has started prosecuting those who have been convicted of various offenses and have not paid their fines.

In some cases, conviction is punishable by a fine instead of jail or house arrest. However, according to the authorities, only a few of them pay in accordance with the sentence.

The Attorney General's Office is now taking the cases of those who have not paid their fines to the Civil Court. The civil court has already ordered payment in some of the cases.

The state has now withdrawn some of the cases filed in the Civil Court. That is because the law allows for the possibility of changing the fine to a sentence of imprisonment.

The Criminal Court or a Magistrate's Court that decided the case may be able to change the sentence of people sentenced to a fine to imprisonment or house arrest.
