Spokesperson of the President's Office, Miuvaan Mohamed has stated that if the President’s policy is not implemented, people will be removed from political positions.

Miuvaan said this at a press conference held at the President's Office today. He said that political jobs are created to implement government policies under the constitutional powers of the President.

In addition, the spokesperson said that the President has the power to appoint and dismiss people in political positions. Therefore, if the President's policy is not implemented, he said the President will remove people from political positions.

Miuvaan said this government will not violate the rights of those in civil service jobs by blackmailing them with their jobs. He said the previous government dismissed civil servants based on their political ideology, but this government will not do so. He added that the current government will also not intimidate civil servants by transferring them from their islands to other islands.

"This government will not threaten people using their jobs. Those in political positions are responsible for implementing the President's policy. If they do not, they will be removed from their positions," said Miuvaan.

Recently, the government has sacked a number of politicians who support MDP's "Fikurehge Dhirun" faction run by Parliament Speaker and former President Mohamed Nasheed.
