Maradhoo MP Ibrahim Shareef has stated that there is nothing Fikurehge Dhirun will not do to destroy MDP.

Shareef said today that there is nothing the Fikurehge Dhirun movement, led by MDP president Mohamed Nasheed, will not do to dismantle and destroy MDP.

As such, Shareef said that Nasheed is trying to defeat MDP even if it is by forming a coalition with Dr. Mohamed Waheed, who was the Vice President in the first MDP government. Waheed was notably the President of Maldives after the first MDP presidency, which MDP members believe was overthrown by a coup.

"Mohamed Nasheed wants MDP to lose the presidential election that much. What he is doing with JP is not something done for the good of MDP," said Shareef.

The Maradhoo MP said no one would believe that those who are trying to make MDP lose the presidential election are doing so in the interest of the party, especially those who are well-wishers of the party. He said the people of Fikurehge Dhirun are destroying the party while holding various positions within it.

"If someone they support gets power, it may be good for the people of Fikurehge Dhirun. But if you use your intelligence, you will know that this won't do any good for MDP," said Shareef.

Shareef said that MDP would win the upcoming presidential election without the members of Fikurehge Dhirun. In addition, he said that Fikurehge Dhirun does not have the courage to contest the election on their own and that they would be defeated easily.

After losing the MDP presidential primary to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, former President Nasheed has formed a separate faction in the party called "Fikurehge Dhirun".

Nasheed has announced that he will not support the MDP candidate in the presidential election.
