Addu Meedhoo MP Rozaina Adam has stated that elections are not won by campaigning with a particular person's photo.
MP Rozaina said elections are won to the extent that the candidate is accepted by the people. Referring to the Guraidhoo by-election, Rozaina said the election was not won by using the photo of former President Mohamed Nasheed (Anni). She criticized Nasheed and members of his Fikurehge Dhirun faction for supporting the opposition candidate.
"Elections are not won by using a particular person's photo. It's the extent the candidate is accepted by the people. The cult ideologues are the ones who think that elections can't be won without using Anni's photo. The Guraidhoo seat was won while Anni was supporting the PPM candidate. So?" said Rozaina.
Recently, Rozaina has been launching a number of verbal attacks on MDP President Nasheed. As such, she has said MDP has changed from a personality cult to a democratic party only now and that the days of selling Nasheed's photo to get seats have come to an end.
