The Maldives Food and Drug Authority has warned people to be aware of two drugs.

The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has stated that a counterfeit of Defitelio (Defibrotide Sodium) has been found in the United Arab Emirates and Kyrgyzstan, which is not in the list of legal imports.

Therefore, MFDA has advised people to be careful when buying prescribed medicines from abroad.

MFDA has also warned against the presence of brown stains in a batch of Telsarta 40 manufactured in Karachi, Pakistan.

MFDA said Telsarta is a drug that is imported to Maldives. However, they stated that they have not found the faulty batch in Maldives.

As a precautionary measure, MFDA said they will continue to inspect drugs imported into Maldives at ports with special attention.
