The Committee for Social Affairs of the Parliament has approved the inclusion of treatment for infertility challenges under the national health insurance scheme; Aasandha.

The Social Affairs Committee of the Parliament took this decision after considering a resolution moved by Galolhu South constituency MP Meekail Ahmed Naseem, calling for the inclusion of a convenient way to treat infertility problems in the country.

Meekail's resolution also highlighted on the issue of unavailability of some basic medicines required for infertility treatment, under state insurance. He also raised concerns over the difficulties in obtaining special treatments for the infertility issues, from the Maldives.

Meekail's resolution also called for special attention to the treatment of other diseases causing infertility problems. The resolution also called for a proper national level study to find a solution to the problem.

After studying the resolution, the Social Affairs Committee of the Parliament approved it to send the matter to the House for further discussions and approval.
