There is no way to remove him from the post of Speaker of the People's Majlis, say President Mohamed Nasheed.

President Nasheed’s remarks come as MPs are calling for his removal from the post of Speaker of Parliament.

Yesterday, a heated argument broke out between President Nasheed and some other MDP MPs in a WhatsApp group. The argument began over the removal of Eva Abdullah from the post of Vice-Speaker of Parliament.

Nasheed said Eva’s case was being intimidated by some MPs. Ali Niyaz responded to Nasheed’s remarks, which further raised his anger.

During the debate in the WhatsApp group, some MPs called for the removal of President Nasheed after Eva. However, Nasheed said he could not be removed from the post of Speaker of Parliament.

"Bigey, Niya, Aslam, think very carefully. I cannot be removed," Nasheed said.

The differences between President Nasheed and President Solih have escalated in past years and some of Nasheed's supporters have now left the party. The members who left the party are now working to form a new political party called The Democrats.

The Democrats have announced that they will contest the presidential election, which is to be held this year.

Nasheed is trying to form a new political party against the party and President Solih, however, he still remains a member of the MDP.
